Cleveland over NY Yankees in 4 games.
- My total hate for the Yankees is probably getting the better of my judgement. The Yankees lineup is incredible but they lack the arms, despite the wealth of post-season experience.
Boston over LA Angels of Anaheim in 5 games.
- In my mind the best first round series. Coast to Coast travel will no doubt play a factor in this series. Two explosive lineups that tend to do all the little things right but still have more than enough power to play long ball.
Chicago over Arizona in 4 games
- Once again, my heart is doing the thinking as my beloved Cubs are in the playoffs. Unfortunately the late starts in Arizona could keep many from watching this intriguing matchup. Most people probably can't name 3 Diamondbacks, but the team is fun to watch and loaded with young talent that only knows how to play hard. Meanwhile the pricey Cubs, with Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez could produce some fireworks. However, I'm most interested in the Game 1 pitching matchup, Brandon Webb and Carlos Zambrano. Webb is steady and consistent but Carlos could get roughed up early if his emotions get the best of him. If not, then settle in for a great pitchers duel if you can stay up that late.
Philly over Colorado in 3 (yes a sweep)
- Been a nice run for both of these teams, but the Rockies run has been exceptional. I think the extra inning playoff with San Diego was the culmination of a great run but that they won't have anything left in the tank. The past 2 weeks the Rockies have basically been in a do-or-die situation. That kind of stretch will take it's toll on the team. Although they aren't just happy to be in the playoffs, I think they have peaked emotionally and before they come back down, they will have been swept.
